Interpreters receive Awards
About 35 interpreters who attended nationally recognized language courses last year with Millennium Translations were presented with diplomas in public service interpreting at the Rochdale Centre of Diversity. The diplomas were presented by the Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale along with Christina Parkes from institute of linguists, Dr. Sheila Will from Rochdale Primary Care Trust and Steve Bewick from Rochdale Council.
A brief presentation on company’s activities was presented by Mr Zaman.

There is a national movement for all public and private sector bodies to use qualified linguistics for all interpreting assignments. These qualifications are awarded by chattered institute of linguists which is a national lead body for accrediting bilingual qualifications. A representative of institute of linguists gave outline of courses and options available through institute of linguists for interpreters; she also praised the good work and partnership that exists between MTL and IOL. Ms Christina Parkes said that she was happy to attend this event.

Millennium Translations have been offering courses to interpreters since 1999 initially in partnership with Handsworth College and then Hopwood College in Rochdale. Over the past 9 years we have trained over 350 interpreters in local government, health and English law options.

Millennium translations is a local translation service that offers excellent network of 300 interpreters in over 60 languages and dialects, widely used by the NHS, PCTs, local councils and other private and public sector organizations.

Mayor of Rochdale talked about diversity and said in Britain today we have people from 160 nationalities and we respect their cultures religions and languages. He added recognized the excellent service interpreter’s offer in bridging the communication barriers. He appreciated their strenuous efforts they have put in to achieving nationally recognized qualification. Mr. Mayor and other distinguished guests congratulated Millennium Translations and everyone who received diplomas in public service interpreting. A buffet meal was served after the event.
